Besides 50 being the new 30 (or something like that), we are in the prime of our lives and have decades before retiring to an arm chair, no matter how comfy they look. There's a world out there to see and women in their 50s are more self-assured (because we've seen some shit), usually have more capital to work with along with fewer responsibilities. There are so many levels to this kind of thinking There are so many levels to this kind of thinking and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Nobody knows your life, what you've been dealing with or going through, so nobody gets a say in what you choose. But you do need to be sure you have a balance between how much you want to support others and how much you need to support yourself. Sometimes we need and want to be there for others and sometimes we need and want to be there for ourselves. Because, as they say, you can't pour from an empty cup. So, how in the hell do we figure this out? Spend some time looking at who or what is making decisions for you. Is it you? Is it someone else? Is it plain old guilt, which serves no one, by the way. Be honest. Are the people you've looked after doing OK, but you still feel you need to give up on your own dreams? Maybe this is the case, and maybe not. But it's worth reflecting upon. I've heard so many people say their kids are independent now but they feel guilty leaving. 1) Have you asked them how they'd feel if you pursued your dreams? You might be surprised. 2) Have you asked them if they'd like to come along? Many people are out here living or travelling abroad with their kids of all ages. 3) Have you asked them if they'd like to have the next family holiday in Greece, Italy, Japan, etc? Especially as women, there are mul-ti-ple opportunities for guilt in our lives. We don't always need to give in to them. Sometimes we just need to think from a different angle. Overwhelm seems to permeate every part of modern l Overwhelm seems to permeate every part of modern life. We go into freeze mode, to avoid dealing with whatever it is that is that we really need to deal with. Or, if it's something we really want, we may make excuses to ourselves as to why we're not going after it. "I can't just drop work and go" "Maybe when the kids are out of the house" "I need to save more money" And then it's easy to blame overwhelm on other things. For a lot of things that produce overwhelm, you might get someone to help you and this always lets you see there are probably just some logical steps that you needed to know but didn't. Having a plan definitely lightens the load, doesn't it?. If you want to move abroad, I have a plan for you. It's called Compass, and it's a 4-week programme for mid-life women who are finally ready to go abroad, but are looking for a structured plan and a mentor to get them there. It would be easy to say, "There's only one way to It would be easy to say, "There's only one way to find out what's out there.", but that wouldn't validate the very real fears people have about a) going abroad and b) making such a huge life change. ✨ And it IS huge, especially if you've never lived outside of your first country, or maybe even your home town. If you really want to do this, it means facing up to some fears. Be sure to break down what exactly it is that you are afraid of. I will go into this in more depth in my upcoming 1 month course called Compass: for mid-life women who want to go abroad. For now, I'll say that having generalised fear is overwhelming, but knowing what those fears actually are, can help you figure out what you need to do to deal with them. ✨ Because, not going to lie, some fears are based on legitimate issues that you may need to deal with first. ✨ That doesn't mean the dream is over. ✨ It just means you have some housekeeping to tend to before venturing out. And, you can do it. You've dealt with shit before. None of us has the blessing of getting to middle age without having dealt with some shit. I feel like this is one of the most common concern I feel like this is one of the most common concerns I hear and it keeps people frozen. ⛄ ✨ Some people have dreamed about travel or living abroad for years, or even decades. For some it was a childhood dream. ✨✨ Have you still not made the leap because of fear of failure? ✨✨ I'm going to talk about this, in depth, in my upcoming course called Compass, for mid-life women who are ready to go abroad but just want a bit of help to get them there. ✨ But, let me ask you this... ✨Do you let a fear of failure hold you back from other things? ✨What is the payoff for you not to face up to your fears? ✨Maybe you feel safe?? ✨✨ But, I can imagine that you are still thinking, constantly, about the thing you want to do. That will to do something doesn't go away, just because you are afraid to try it. ✨ So, choose your pain. ✨Risk "failure" (which is in quotes because I don't actually believe in that word) OR ✨live with your unfulfilled desire. This doesn't mean there aren't ways to mitigate risk. There most certainly are! And that is why I'm going to be running my course.
